Charles Darwin Foundation congratulates Doctors Peter and Rosemary Grant for their Kyoto Prize
Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF) wishes to congratulate Drs Peter and Rosemary Grant, two renowned scientists who are members of our General Assembly, for being awarded the Kyoto Prize, announced today by the Inamori Foundation of Japan. The prize is a Japanese award similar to the Nobel and recognizes outstanding works in the fields of philosophy, arts, science and technology. The Grants have spent over three decades working in Galapagos in the field of evolutionary biology. To the general public they are known as the protagonists in The Beak of the Finch, the Pulitzer Prize-winning book. Through their research the Grants demonstrated how evolution works in finches, watching as the dimensions of the birds' beaks changed in response to a range of variables. Through our long association, the CDF feels very proud indeed of having contributed in some small way to the Grants' breakthrough discoveries.
Congratulations Peter and Rosemary!
